Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is funded by the German Foreign Ministry, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Federal Ministry of Environment and partner organizations at home and abroad.
Scholarships for scientific research post-doctoral enable high qualification and experience together with German colleagues to develop research, creating in this way also long term cooperation relationships. As a way to benefit the scholarship is that foreign researcher selects itself the German host, a German research center and proposes to him/her a scientific research project.
Main criterion for the award of the scholarship is scientific level of the foreign researchers. There are no quota restrictions for different scientific disciplines or to their countries of origin. Also there in no application periods; they can be made at any time. The German language is not a criterion, if the scientific research project can be realized in English.
The main programs of the Foundation are:
· The program for foreign post-doctoral
· The program for foreign scientists with experience
Besides these basic programs, for each of them is also a version scholarship program for scientists from developing countries (the so-called scholarship "Georg Forster"), which are allocated if the proposed project is evaluated as effective in terms of transfer of knowledge and technology in those countries.
